This policy covers tahoeproper.com and our checkout at shop.tahoeproper.com. Tahoe Proper is a small apparel brand based on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe.
What we collect
When you buy something
Checkout is run by Shopify. To fulfil an order we collect your name, email address, shipping and billing address, phone number if you provide one, and what you ordered. We never see or store your full payment card number — that goes directly to Shopify's payment processor.
When you join our list
Your email address, stored in Klaviyo, plus whether you open or click our emails.
When you browse
We collect limited analytics and behavior data:
- Pages you visit, and products you view or add to cart
- Approximate location derived from your IP address (city-level, not precise)
- Device, browser, and screen size
- How you arrived — search, an email link, or a direct visit
Cookies and similar technology

Cookies can be cleared or blocked in your browser settings. Only the cart cookie is required for the store to function.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share only what each of these needs to do its job:

We may also disclose information if legally required, or as part of a sale or transfer of the business.
Marketing email
We send marketing email only to people who opted in. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, or email hello@tahoeproper.com to be removed.
How long we keep it
Order records for as long as tax and accounting require. Marketing profiles until you unsubscribe. Analytics on Google's standard retention schedule.
Your rights
Email hello@tahoeproper.com to see what we hold, correct it, or have it deleted. We respond within 30 days and won't treat you differently for asking.
California residents
Under the CCPA/CPRA you have the right to know what personal information we collect and why, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information. To opt out of analytics and advertising tracking, email us or use your browser's cookie controls.
UK and EU residents
You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection under the GDPR. Our lawful bases are performance of a contract (to fulfil your order), consent (for marketing email), and legitimate interests (to run and secure the site).
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
Changes are reflected in the date at the top of this page. Material changes are announced to our email list.
